Calls for specialist advice from patients, community healthcare professionals and staff at Ealing Hospital and West Middlesex University Hospital come through to the inpatient hospice ward on 020 8967 5597.
Trained staff on the ward can often give straightforward initial advice. If that is not sufficient, there is a consultant level staff member on call 24/7 who will return the call.
Consultant level staff are first on for the ward and will attend the ward if required. They will routinely visit the ward daily on weekends and Bank Holidays, mainly to trouble shoot and to assess new problems.
From 18:00 to 07:00 seven days a week, Meadow House Hospice hosts the local Marie Curie Rapid Response Service. There are 2 trained general (not specialist) nurses on each night. They are able to give telephone advice, and can go out to visit when patients and families ring in. This service operates over the whole of Ealing and Hounslow Boroughs
Out of hours at weekends (09:00 - 17:00) there is a Clinical Nurse Specialist on call across both Boroughs. They provide telephone advice, face to face visits, will prescribe (if they have done the training) and can call on the on-call consultant grade if they need extra support +/- domiciliary visiting.
